The Kings Arms Community Pub is situated at the heart of the old coastal village of Strete, in the popular tourist destination of the South Hams in Devon. The village is five miles from the historical port of Dartmouth and sits within a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. We have more sunshine than most of the UK, a great coastal lifestyle and a warm, friendly community.
The Kings Arms is the village pub and has been a community pub (as Strete Community Pub Limited/SCPL) since October 2020 despite everything that has been thrown at the hospitality sector in that time, in part because of a loyal following from both near and far, and because of the great affection our community has shown by supporting the pub financially when required. The pub already runs a number of established and successful special nights and events across the year and has been building up its profile with local press coverage and a show presented from the pub on BBC Radio Devon.
We’re looking for a hard working and energetic Chef/Kitchen manager to run the kitchen at The Kings Arms Community Pub in the coastal village of Strete, within the South Hams Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in South Devon. You will be part of our friendly community pub and key to our brilliant team. Competitive rates of pay, lovely people, and some of the best views in Devon.

This is not a live-in role but there are several affordable rental options from within the local community.
Key responsibilities will be:
Make sure the kitchen runs smoothly in every way
Take the lead on Menu development – showcase your cooking skills
Support with operational and commercial management tasks
Hire and lead the small kitchen team, working with them to provide an efficient kitchen operation
Manage operational budgets
Apply best practice
Be a calm and encouraging role model to your team providing them with support and development
You will have proven experience in all or most of:
Supplier selection and price negotiation
Dry stock ordering and control
Teaching by example
Daily service volume planning
Start of day and end of day checks
Rostering & staff training
