THE KITCHEN has been deep-cleaned and preparations are underway to recruit a chef in readiness for reopening on Good Friday, 3rd April.
STABILISING THROUGH WINTER. It’s been a challenging period of reduced winter trade across the hospitality sector, and the Kings Arms Management Committee has necessarily taken difficult but decisive action to stabilise the pub’s finances and secure its future. This included the temporary closure of the kitchen until Easter and a move to reduced opening hours – see below. Tally Richmond has taken on management of the pub through this interim period. The community has responded strongly to an invitation to put forward constructive ideas for the pub’s future, and people have stepped up, but the ongoing monthly subscription scheme remains the pub’s primary lifeline for long-term sustainability – please subscribe! The Committee continues to reflect on community feedback and is working to develop practical plans that can move forward with the energy, expertise and support of the village. As always, regular custom makes all the difference, especially during these quieter months.
Our core OPENING SCHEDULE for the wintery path into Easter has been amended, and may change again as we manage cash flow. We begin 2026 by opening Thursday and Friday evenings 5-10pm and 12-4pm on Sundays. This will necessarily be adjusted as we react to customer patterns and events such as the Six Nations rugby tournament when we will (of course!) open on Saturdays to show the England games. Other games will be shown too, provided we happen to be open.

Congratulations to Cameron Alexander, who wins our NEW YEAR’S EVE £1000 prize draw! It was our most successful draw to date with particularly healthy sales as the last few days counted down. I can reveal here that we sold a magnificent 166 tickets – wow! We are able to pay out the £1000 prize to Cameron and raise a staggering £1,940 for the pub. Yes, that’s right, almost £2000. This cash boost could not have come at a better time, as trade has seriously dropped off in recent months, so thank you everyone who participated – we are truly grateful.
